The auction house is the main place where you make your gold in the World of Warcraft. So this is why you need an auction house alt.

The alt can be as low as level 1 and all you have to do is send the alt a little gold so that it can post auctions as well as the items that you want to sell. This way, whenever you need to sell something or buy something off the auction house and you can’t be bothered to run or hearth back, you can pop onto you auction house alt and just have them buy it or sell the item for you.

You can also always use the auction house alt to do a price check on the auction house if you’re about to buy something on the trade channel in Shattrath or Dalaran (where this is no auction house) so that you can buy the item at a fair deal.

Everyone should have an auction house alt. You can also make them learn enchanting and have them disenchant all lower level items as you level so that you can make some extra gold with your low level greens and sell the disenchanted materials on the auction.
